Ismaili Center, Houston and the Ismaili Council invite you to join the inaugural Festival of Faiths Houston on Sunday, October 4th 2026. Festival of Faiths brings together people from across Houston's diverse faith communities to build understanding, forge meaningful connections, and celebrate the values we share. Through inspiring music, captivating dance, visual arts, storytelling, thought-provoking panels, and engaging presentations, the festival creates space for people of different faiths and backgrounds to learn from one another, celebrate our diversity, and strengthen the bonds that connect us as a community. Join us for the second movie night under the stars at the Ismaili Center! Bring your own blankets or chairs, and come early for lawn games before the movie. Doors open at 6:30 PM for lawn games and the film begins at 7:30 PM. We're screening Monsters Inc., Pixar's monster-filled comedy about an unlikely friendship that changes everything. ROCO (River Oaks Chamber Orchestra) continues its 22nd season with Fellow Travelers, exploring companionship and shared humanity through music. Conductor Rei Hotoda returns to lead the chamber orchestra’s debut at Houston's stunning Ismaili Center, with back-to-back performances on Saturday, November 14, at 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2:00 p.m. The program opens with Arvo Pärt's Fratres, followed by Marcus Karl Maroney's Concerto for Chamber Orchestra. Composer-In-Residence Jessica Meyer unveils a new ROCO-commissioned work before the concert concludes with Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 in D Major. Composer-In-Residence Jessica Meyer presents the world premiere of a new ROCO commission inspired by the idea of inner and outer resonance. In her first commission of the season, Meyer explores how our environments shape the ways we listen, respond, and connect with one another. Arvo Pärt's Fratres is one of the Estonian composer's most beloved works. Built on a simple, repeating harmonic pattern that unfolds through a series of variations, the meditative piece creates an atmosphere of reflection and quiet contemplation.  Originally commissioned and premiered by ROCO in 2016, Marcus Karl Maroney's Concerto for Chamber Orchestra returns to the orchestra's repertoire, showcasing the ensemble's virtuosity as musical ideas pass between sections in a spirited dialogue. The program concludes with Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 in D Major, a vibrantly optimistic work despite the onset of the composer’s deafness at the time.
